Welcome to Surf Cult — a surf school based in Kuta, Lombok, Indonesia.
We run surf lessons, surf guiding, and surf retreats for all levels, from complete beginners catching their very first wave to intermediate surfers ready to push into more challenging breaks.
Kuta Lombok is one of the best places in Indonesia to learn to surf. The water is warm year-round, and you'll actually have space to learn. Whether you're a first-timer or coming back to progress, Lombok's coastline offers the right wave for where you're at.
We work with the best spots on the island depending on conditions and your level.
For beginners, we head to Selong Belanak — a long, gentle beach break with soft sand and no crowds, perfect for learning to pop up and read a wave.
For intermediate surfers, we access Tanjung Aan and Gerupuk, different breaks that let you progress fast in a session.
Advanced surfers we guide to the reef breaks along the south coast, including some of the most consistent, world-class waves Lombok has to offer.
What makes Surf Cult different is who we are. Our coaches are local — they grew up on these waves, they know every spot, every swell, every tide.
Small group sizes mean you get real coaching, not just someone watching you. We care about progression, and we'll tell you honestly what's holding you back and how to fix it.

Our women's surf retreats are something we're especially proud of. They're small, intentional, and go deeper than technique — we work with a mindset coach to tackle what actually holds most surfers back in the water. The next retreat is August 1–5, 2026, with limited spots remaining. Surf Cult is based in Kuta, Lombok — the surf hub of the island's south coast, a short drive from Lombok International Airport and the gateway to Gerupuk, Selong Belanak, Tanjung Aan, and Ekas.
